Framing the Session
Give participants an introduction and purpose/reason why you are teaching this session: "Sometimes school laptop users experience difficulty when they lose their connection to the schools internet. This is an inconvenience to teachers and students. Today we are going to discuss the necessary steps you need to follow in order to successfully reconfigure their internet settings."
Teaching
Demonstrate for participants how to: “Watch me as I show you how to connect to the wireless network. Step 1: From the Start Menu, in ‘All Programs’, open the Intel Proset/Wireless program Step 2: Click on the ‘ADD’ button
Step 3: Name the profile “your school name and number”
Step 4: Enter your schools SSID code.
Step 5: Intel Proset will indicate that you must enter the Security Settings.
Step 6: Change the Encryption Level to ‘64’
Step 7: Enter the 10 digit WEP code for your school.
Step 8: Hit ‘Next’. You will see that you are now connected to your wireless network.
Guided Practice
Guide participants through the process of: “Now it is your turn to try it.” Follow the steps to connect to another VLAN in your building. WORK TIME(Typically lasts about 60–70% of session.)
Getting Started
Tell participants what they will be doing during their work time, and how much time they have: “Take the next 15 minutes to reconfigure the wireless settings on your laptop to these settings” Profile Name: 055D315001 SSID: DOETWAC00M001vl60g WEP Key: 162D321002
Participant Activity
Participants will... Step 1: Open Intel Proset Step 2: Sreate a new profile and name it “My School”
Step 3: Enter the SSID code
Step 4: Enter the WEP Key
Step 5: Establish a connection to the Internet.

Circulate around the room and confer with participants. Make sure that participants are following the steps accurately. Suggest that, if participants finish early they assist others who may be having difficulty.
